Recommended for:
- Performance horses, such as endurance horses, three-day eventers, racehorses, etc.
- Conditioning horses for sale or show
- Nutritionally challenged horses (see above)
- Improving body condition or hair coat
Feeding Instructions
- McCauley's® Omega Bran® can be fed alone or mixed with feed. The mini-pellet form allows for easy feeding and mixing. As a general rule of good feeding practices, McCauley's® Omega Bran® should be introduced slowly. The following recommendations are for an average-size riding horse (1,000–1,200 pounds). The actual feeding amounts should be adjusted according to the body weight of the horse.
- One pound of McCauley's® Omega Bran® can replace 1.5–2 pounds of a typical feed without sacrificing vitamin levels or upsetting mineral balances.
- To improve hair coat condition or for general maintenance, feed 0.25–0.5 pounds per day.
- Adding 1–2 pounds of McCauley's® Omega Bran® to the diet will provide significant weight gain.
- For nutritionally challenged horses, McCauley's® Omega Bran® can serve as the sole grain source (please consult a McCauley Bros' nutritionists).
- For additional calories with even less bulk, McCauley's® All-Natural Rice Bran Oil is recommended in place of McCauley's® Omega Bran®.
