Feed 2 pounds of McCauley's® Trinergy® per head per day mixed with a sufficient amount of oats for the individual horse. Good quality forage (hay and/or pasture) should also be provided. The actual amounts required will depend on factors such as body weight, age, intensity and amount of work, season or climate and individual efficiency. The following table is offered as a guide. This guide is for horses with a mature body weight range of 1,100–1,300 pounds (500–590 kilograms).

This guide bases an average quality mixed hay at 12 percent crude protein and 0.85–0.90 megacalorie per pound. As the hay quality drops, the amount of oats will need to be increased. Conversely, better quality hay can reduce the quantity of oats needed. This guide bases pasture means at the same moisture content and same nutritional quality as the hay.
The amount of oats and forage in this guide is meant as a starting point. Individual horse needs will vary; therefore, feeding should be adjusted per individual.
The range of oats required is wide. For "easy keepers" on excellent forage, the amount of oats may be halved. On the other hand, "hard keepers" on extremely poor forage may need double the amount of oats or must have better quality forage.
The amount of mixed feed (McCauley's® Trinergy® plus oats) given at any one time should be no more than 0.5 percent of the horse's body weight. For example, a 1,200-pound horse should be fed no more than 6 pounds per feeding and therefore should be fed twice a day if at medium work and three times a day if at intense work.
Always provide clean, fresh water.
Salt should always be available.
Additional electrolytes may be necessary if the horse is exercising at high intensity under hot and humid conditions.
Do not feed additional proteins, vitamins or minerals except on the advice of a nutritionist.
Consult your veterinarian concerning proper health programs, and always maintain a good worm control program.
Please consult with our nutritionists if grains other than oats are fed.
